The Annuals

The Annuals are easily one of my favorite Indie bands. This North Carolina talent has been getting attention for it's various excellent EPs and it's acclaimed Be He Me album. In the spirit of fall i decided to spotlight this band. It won't be the last you hear of them on spelunking, and i would count on them being on our November mix tape.

Tracks from their Myspace
Complete or Completing - The Annuals
Nah Keseyi - The Annuals
Swing Low Sweet Chariot - The Annuals
Brother- The Annuals

The Apples In Stereo

The Apples In Stereo's sound has been evolving since 1992. Their older stuff is filled with gems, and some interesting abstract tracks as well. Their newest album, New Magnetic Wonder represents their hard work in motion, and shows their music at it's perfection. Interchanging band members have lead to some differences in their music but they've adapted miraculously.

I have the honor of gracing you all with two of their tracks:
Energy - The Apples In Stereo
Same Old Drag - The Apples In Stereo

Vampire Weekend

Well i was going to wait for the weekend but i thought if i could get this as close to Halloween as possible it'd seem more fitting. Vampire Weekend hails from New York, though you would most likely never guess this. Their music has distinct British and African roots. Some songs would likely classify as reggae similar to some of Sting's work. Other tracks may remind you of The Beatles or any other classic rock group from the 60s or 70s. Wherever their sound comes from, it doesn't matter since it comes together so harmoniously. This is some indie-rock you do not want to miss.

Lucky for you (and thanks to their
MySpace) i have the first four tracks from their album.

Mansard Roof - Vampire Weekend
Oxford Comma - Vampire Weekend
APunk - Vampire Weekend
Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa - Vampire Weekend

Los Campesinos!

Los Campesinos! Are a (correct me if I'm wrong) 7 "man" band of an incredible variety of musicians. The seemingly random combination of these talents creates very pleasant compositions. The up-beat sound has gotten them some reasonable acknowledgement in the Indie scene, which is well-deserved in my opinion.

Don't Tell Me To Do The Math/s - Los Campesinos!
